Why Pacquaio will never be considered a true All Time Great if he forces the catchweight

Here is just a little bit of info on why Pacquiao and this weight issue helps point out that he can never truly be considered one of the "All time greats".

This is what the true All Time Great accomplished.... without catch weights:

Sugar Ray Robinson went undefeated in 85 amateur fights, with the majority of these coming by knockout. Robinson turned pro as a tall, thin welter weight, yet he was so good he would frequently fight some of the best middleweights, typically giving up 12 or more pounds. In his first 132 fights (yes that is correct) he was defeated only ONCE and that was by Jake LaMotta at MIDDELWEIGHT. In that loss LaMatta outweighed Robinson by 16 1/2lbs!!!! A difference Pacman wouldn't dare dream of trying to emulate. Robinson then went on to beat LaMotta 5 times, 4 of those times while still weighing in as a WELTERWEIGHT for the MIDDLEWEIGHT fights. The last of those five was for the Middleweight Championship in the fight that is now commonly known as "The St. Valentines Massacre". Robinson then came within 2 rounds of taking the Light Heavyweight title from Joey Maxim while being outweighed by more than 15lbs. The reason he lost was heat exhaustion from fighting at such a pace under 104 degree temperatures that he built up a lead that Maxim was not going to over come. The bright lights did Robinson in, not the weight advantage. Now ask yourself, Why does Pacquiao who Roach considers the best of our time, INSIST on all these advantages and steps to insure he has an opponent who does not have the benefit of coming in at his (in this case Cotto/Mosley) best condition to fight for the title? Does that sound like an all time great? Not in my book, not in the history books and not in any reality no matter how anyone tries to twist it.

Pacquaio deserves no place to be called POUND FOR POUND the best when he in fact is refusing to prove the VERY DEFINITION of what a POUND FOR POUND Champion does. In this case Sugar Ray Robinson, the boxer that POUND FOR POUND was first brought into boxing discussions.

Let Pacquiao, Arum, Roach make these catch weights, let Cotto or Mosley break and give in for the money, but be clear, it takes Pacquiao out of consideration for EVER being called the Greatest of this or any other time.

* if anyone wants to dispute the Robinson facts listed, I'd be happy to point out the countless sources of reference.

Sugar Ray Robinson is always going to be the best way to bring wagon jumpers down to reality.

this is true, i'm a big Manny fan, but hey if he fought DLH without catch weight i say he fight anyone at 147, he's at a big disadvantage so if he loses he still wont lose any credit just for taking the risk, i say he fight at 147 how its meant to be, no in between catch wait bullshit.

I believe he can beat Cotto at 147, no need to have Cotto come in at 143-44.....people will say Cotto drained himself to make weight and that's why he lost. I think Pacquiao will struggle against the bigger Welters like Margarito, Clottey and Mosley but he can hang with guys like Cotto and Berto who are smaller Welters.

I would lose a lot of respect for Manny if he does force Cotto below 144 or 145. He already is getting a lion's share of the profits, he should give up on Cotto coming down that low. If team Manny forces the weight, Cotto shouldn't take the deal. I like Cotto more and more for this fight, based on his talent, but now I want him to beat Manny because of the bs that he is trying to get him to agree to. I think Manny has got a lot to answer for if he takes that split on the purse and forces the catch weight... I think at 147 Cotto would take Manny for sure. I can't wait to see it.

im all about the motherfucking man!! Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest of all time!! Manny Pacquiao is not the greatest of all times, but he is one of the greats!! absolutely!! how can you take the fact that he's been a 6 time chamo in 6 different weight divisions and not consider him as one of the best!! le tme repeat myself real quick, Sugar Ray Robinson is the GREATEST of all times!! Pacquiao is the best of our era, if not....who!? the pound for pound marking is one for us "forumer's" to get riled up for!! u think im not pissed! i cant wait to see Pacquiao get his ass kicked, we all know who can do it and has done it, but because of some visually impaired judges, Juan Manuel Marquez was robbed!! anyways....the whole catch weight thing is fkn crap! but he's only the Cotto fight will only be his 2nd fight at a catchweight am i correct!? listen, the way i see it, its impossible for you not to consider him one of the greatest of all time, not the greatest, but one of them! all things considered, Manny Pacquiao, in my book, is one of the greatest of all times!!

In boxing anything can happen, thats why i never underestimate anyone (unless its an obvious one sided case like sometimes *cough* Margo/Mosley *cough*) but im backing up my home boy Cotto 100%

Ok, seriously, the way that Roach, Pacquiao, Top Rank, and the WBO are teaming up against Cotto, I've come to a very hopeful conclusion. Originally, I wanted Pacquiao to win. Since that original thought, so much crap has happened to lead me toward the side of hating Pacquiao. So this is what I hope happens: Cotto dumps the WBO for trying to pull all the crap they have been doing; Pacquiao pays the dues to make it a one sided title bout at 145; Cotto decides not to stay with Top Rank after this year, because it's obvious that Arum ain't got his back (first by defending Margarito, and now the recent crap he's pulling); The 2 lbs won't effect Cotto, and he'll beat Pacquiao over 11 rds much like he did Judah; The WBO is downgraded to not being taken as seriously anymore for the crap they pulled, and are stuck without a champ at 147 due to their lack of respect for a great ring warrior; Pacquiao retires or rematches JMM; Roach finds a suitable replacement, and Bob Arum is screwed with all his biggest stars sidelined (Cotto leaving, Pacquiao retiring, and Pavlik stuck without a real opponent due to the tourney at 168).
